Dear family & friends

Three days on the Amalfi Coast to celebrate our love

A warm welcome

welcome to our little corner of the coast

We are getting married on a cliff above the sea, and we would like nothing more than to have the people we love standing on it with us. Over three unhurried days we will swim, eat far too much, dance badly and watch the light go pink over the water. This little website gathers everything you need to join us: dates, directions, and the small details that make a big weekend feel easy.

Our little
love story

We met in London, in the queue for a rooftop cinema that got rained off before it opened. Two hours, one shared umbrella and a bag of cold chips later, neither of us cared much about the film.

Four summers on we took the wrong bus out of Sorrento and ended up in Praiavella, a village neither of us could find on a map. We ate lemon cake on a wall above the water and stayed three days longer than we had planned.

That village is where we are getting married. We have been inventing excuses to go back ever since, and this is by far the best one.

to be continued in Praiavella

Come & stay

A little atlas for your weekend on the coast.

By Air

Naples International (NAP) is the nearest airport, about 50 km away. A Curreri coach runs from the arrivals hall straight to Sorrento in roughly 75 minutes; a private car to the villa takes about 1h 40m. Rome Fiumicino (FCO) also works: the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini, then a high-speed train down to Naples.

By Rail

High-speed trains reach Napoli Centrale from Rome in 1h 10m, Florence in 2h 50m and Milan in 4h 30m. One level down at Napoli Garibaldi, the Circumvesuviana and the faster Campania Express run to Sorrento in about an hour. From Sorrento it is a 40-minute drive east along the SS163 coast road.

By Sea

The best arrival, and the one we would choose. Hydrofoils leave Naples from Molo Beverello for Sorrento roughly hourly in July and take about 40 minutes. Through the summer, ferries also run Sorrento to Positano to Amalfi and call at Praiavella twice a day. We will be on the quay for the Friday afternoon boat.

Where to Stay

We have held rooms at four places in the village. Hotel Le Sirenelle sits on the cliff above the harbour, Albergo La Limonaia is quieter and up in the lemon terraces, Locanda del Faro has six rooms right on the water, and Palazzo Marivento is the grand one, twenty minutes up the hill. Booking codes follow with your RSVP, and a shuttle loops between all four and the villa on all three days.

Things to do

Come early or stay on. The coast rewards a slow week, and these are the days we would plan for you if we could.

  1. A day on the water

A boat out of the harbour at nine: the Li Galli islets, the Emerald Grotto, and a long lunch at anchor off Capri. Ask us and we will put you on one.

  2. The Path of the Gods

The Sentiero degli Dei runs the ridge from Bomerano to Nocelle, about three hours with the best view in Italy underneath you. Start early, carry water, wear real shoes.

  3. Lemons and limoncello

The terraces above the village are still farmed by hand. A morning walk through them ends with a tasting and a jar of marmalade to take home.

  4. Ravello, slowly

Forty minutes east. The gardens at Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, a concert on the terrace if the season is kind, and the quietest lunch on the coast.

  5. Pompeii and Vesuvius

An hour by road, and worth the early alarm. Go at opening time, take a hat, and be back in the sea by four.

  6. Absolutely nothing

The beach below the village is a ten-minute walk down and a funicular ride back up. A sunbed, a lemon granita, and the whole afternoon is gone.

Little questions

What should I wear?
Friday is smart casual on a breezy terrace: linen, flat sandals, something for your shoulders after dark. Saturday is formal, but the villa garden is old stone and gravel, so block heels beat stilettos. Sunday is brunch in the shade with a swimsuit underneath.
What will the weather be like?
The Amalfi Coast in July is hot and dry: 29 to 32°C by day, still around 22°C at midnight, and the sea about 25°C. Bring sun cream, a hat, and something light for the boat.
How do I get around once I am there?
Do not rent a car. The SS163 is narrow, the parking is worse, and a shuttle loops between the four hotels and the villa all weekend. For everything else there are the SITA buses, the ferries, and taxis that are best booked the night before.
Can I bring a plus-one?
We have addressed each invitation personally. Please reply only for the guests named on your RSVP, so we can properly toast every one of you.
Are children welcome?
Little ones are dearly welcome at the Welcome Dinner and the Farewell Brunch. The Saturday wedding is an adults-only evening, and we can arrange a sitter at the villa.
Dietary restrictions?
Absolutely, tell us when you RSVP. The kitchen at Cielomare handles everything from vegan to gluten-free with delicious grace.
Is there anything to do besides the wedding?
More than you can fit in a week. Boat days, the Path of the Gods, the lemon terraces, Ravello, Pompeii, and the beach below the village. The Things to Do list above has the details.
Who can I call if something goes wrong?
Our weekend coordinator is Chiara, on +39 089 000 0000. For anything urgent before the wedding, email hello@noraandelliot.com and we will jump on it.
